For our brave tribe Black Drakkar Games we are looking for an experienced Concept Art Conjurer/Conjuress (Concept Artist).

We are a young developers' studio established by industry veterans and powered by very experienced and perfectly harmonized individuals. We are a Polish company based in Warsaw, hidden in the silence and greenery of Fort Mokotow. Our team co-develops various game projects.

Currently, one of the ongoing projects we are involved in is an unannounced Sci-Fi game based on a popular IP and developed in Unreal Engine 5. For this project, we are seeking a talented Concept Artist who will play a key role in supporting the development team by crafting high-quality concept art that brings our creative vision to life.

What will be your main responsibilities?

  • Work closely with the Environment team, working with moodboards, color schemes, sketches, and quick paintovers for your part and to help, guide or mentor younger artists.
  • Partner with the 3D Art Team to ensure the concept designs work within metric, providing breakouts, and paintovers of architecture and props.
  • Collaborate with the art and design teams to contribute to the visual direction for our game.
  • Taking ownership of a given level and crafting its vision. This may include creating loose sketches, high-level paintings, gameplay paint-overs, blueprint sketches for 3D Artists, matte paintings for skyboxes and more, all while staying true to high-level artistic guidelines.

What kind of professional are we looking for?

  • At least 2 years of experience as a Concept Artist.
  • Exceptional ability to create mood, emotional impact and atmosphere in environments.
  • Having a proven track record of creating stunning and beautiful environments through visually appealing and well-crafted concept art.
  • Experience in the full development process of a published title leading to understanding of what makes an impactful location, and how to break key art down to digestible work for other team members.
  • Strong understanding of art fundamentals, multiple art styles, composition, color theory, and lighting and keen eye for detail.
  • A passion for game development and the ability to both inspire and execute.

Additional advantages would be:

  • Knowledge of Unreal Engine 4/5.
  • Experience in creating, preparing and optimizing UI.
