We are looking for a Lead Artist to co-create an entirely new team focused on co-developing titles within the Snail Games USA portfolio. The team will be built from the ground up here in Poland, offering you the unique opportunity to help shape the new studio’s direction.
In this role, you’ll collaborate on an exciting variety of projects, including both well-established IPs and new titles. You’ll be able to influence the studio’s growth and culture from day one while working on creative, dynamic projects with passionate teams from other parts of the world.
Job Duties
- Art Vision Alignment: Serve as the main point of contact for co-development partners in the U.S., ensuring the Poland team’s work aligns with the overall art direction and vision.
- Direct Communication: Regularly communicate with U.S.-based art directors to discuss project goals, artistic standards, and feedback, ensuring consistent alignment and addressing art-related questions.
- Cross-Discipline Oversight: Manage a multidisciplinary art team (e.g., character, environment, VFX artists), assigning tasks based on skill and project needs, and ensuring quality across all sub-disciplines.
- Quality Control: Review and provide feedback on team output, ensuring all art assets meet the high standards and aesthetic expectations of the core team.
- Mentorship and Skill Development: Guide and mentor artists across various disciplines, fostering skill development and ensuring a cohesive visual style.
- Pipeline Management: Identify and resolve any workflow or pipeline issues affecting the quality or efficiency of the art production process.
- Deliverable Coordination: Oversee deliverable timelines, manage weekly check-ins with U.S. partners, and respond to feedback to keep the Poland team on track.
Requirements
- Experience in Art Leadership: 5+ years of experience in game art, with at least 2 years in a leadership role, ideally in a co-development setting.
- English Proficiency: Strong written and verbal English skills to enable clear communication with U.S. partners.
- Aesthetic and Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of artistic principles and best practices across multiple sub-disciplines (e.g., character, environment, VFX).
- Task Management Skills: Skilled at task assignment, progress tracking, and providing constructive feedback across art disciplines.
- Commitment to Quality: Dedication to upholding the visual quality and style standards defined by the U.S. art direction team.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong organizational and analytical skills to identify and resolve issues within the art production pipeline.
- Unreal Engine Experience: Proficiency with Unreal Engine, with a preference for experience in UE4 or earlier versions.
Bonus Requirements
- Experience with Survival Games: Familiarity with titles like Ark or Atlas and an understanding of their artistic styles and requirements.
- Modkit Knowledge: Experience or familiarity with Ark or Atlas Modkits to customize and enhance game assets effectively.
