We are looking for a Hard Surface Artist to join an entirely new team based in Poland, focused on co-developing titles within the Snail Games USA portfolio.
In this role, you’ll collaborate on an exciting variety of projects, including both well-established IPs and new titles. You'll have a unique opportunity to be part of the studio’s growth and influence its culture from day one while working on creative, dynamic projects with passionate teams from other parts of the world.
Responsibilities
- Create high-quality, game-ready sci-fi hard-surface models (environments, vehicles, props), balancing visual impact with performance requirements.
- Plan and execute complex, modular assets with moving parts and interactive elements.
- Implement and set up assets in Unreal Engine 5, ensuring visual fidelity and smooth performance.
- Identify pipeline improvements and collaborate with the team on more efficient workflows.
- Mentor junior artists as needed, clarifying project vision and providing technical guidance.
- Work closely with riggers, animators, and game designers to ensure assets fit functional needs.
- Respond to feedback promptly, iterating on designs to meet evolving requirements.
- Provide accurate time estimates and manage tasks to meet project milestones.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in hard-surface art.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of professional experience (5+ years preferred) in AA/AAA hard-surface modeling and texturing.
- Strong portfolio of game-ready assets for PC or console, showcasing PBR workflows and next-gen texturing.
- Expert knowledge of industry-standard 3D software (modeling, texturing) and familiarity with Unreal Engine 4/5.
- Proven skill in optimizing assets for performance without compromising visual quality.
- Understanding of real-world construction principles, translating them into believable sci-fi designs.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Perforce) and game development pipelines.
- Ability to adapt quickly to shifting priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal).
- Self-motivated, with strong organizational skills and a proactive approach to learning new tools.
Bonus Skills
- Substance Designer for material creation.
- Knowledge of Houdini for modular asset generation.
- Solid grasp of composition and rendering principle.
