Senior Game Designer – Grand Strategy / RTS

At Play of Battle, we are developing an ambitious Grand Strategy / RTS game set in modern times, featuring deep political, economic, and military systems. If you’re passionate about design, pacing, and balance, we want you on our team!

🎯 What You’ll Do
✅ Take ownership of core gameplay systems – from concept to balancing and iteration.
✅ Design engaging mechanics related to military units, political decisions, economic systems, and real-time battles.
✅ Collaborate with the game director, programmers, and artists to ensure a cohesive vision.
✅ Create clear and detailed design documentation to guide development.
✅ Analyze playtests, player feedback, and gameplay data to fine-tune systems.
✅ Ensure high replayability, player agency, and strategic depth.

🔎 Who We’re Looking For
🎯 A passionate fan of Grand Strategy and RTS games – ideally titles like Hearts of Iron, Company of Heroes, Wargame, or Total War.
🎯 A systems design expert who understands balance and how to make complex mechanics approachable.
🎯 Someone with experience designing and shipping PC strategy or simulation games.
🎯 A strong communicator who can clearly present and justify design decisions.
🎯 A proactive problem solver who pushes ideas forward rather than waiting for tasks.

📌 Requirements
✔ 4+ years of professional game design experience, ideally with at least one shipped strategy game.
✔ A strong portfolio showcasing systems thinking and game balance.
✔ Ability to work onsite in Warsaw (this is not a remote position).

🎁 Bonus Points
⭐ Experience working with Unity.
⭐ Knowledge of historical or modern warfare.
⭐ Passion for creating deep, realistic, and highly replayable gameplay systems.
⭐ Familiarity with economic and political systems in strategy games.
