I'm the former founder of Turbine, which made MMO games including Lord of the Rings Online, and was bought by Warner Bros. for $160 million.

Now my friends and I are making an AR mobile walking game in Warsaw with a big Hollywood franchise. (It's a secret, but it's one of the big ones, like Harry Potter or Star Wars.) Our advisors include former Lucasfilm COO, Blizzard President, and PlayStation CEO.

We are hiring a 3D animator (and other art roles). We do it Mission: Impossible style with insane happy energy!

Top level salary. You can work from home, remotely, and if you live near Warsaw our team is based there so that we can occasionally meet. We have a budget for joint trips to tourist attractions, escape rooms and other games, dinners, all paid by the company. Unlike other companies that are mismanaged and constantly in "crunch time", we have a smooth, no drama operation where everyone is excited to make a new category of video game.

You could be part-time or full-time. Full-timers get 26 paid vacation days a year. We invest in people to be creative and invent the future. We plan to grow 3x in the next year, giving you much more responsibility than other employers to prove yourself and move up!

Responsibilities:

• Create high-quality 3D animations for characters, objects, and environments specifically optimized for Unity-based mobile games.
• Collaborate with designers and developers to ensure animations enhance gameplay and run smoothly on mobile devices.
• Implement, test, and polish animations directly within the Unity engine, including configuring Animator Controllers, setting up animation states, and transitions.
• Work within mobile optimization constraints to deliver efficient, scalable animations.
• Troubleshoot animation issues and provide technical solutions aligned with mobile hardware limitations.
• Optional: Assist with rigging and skinning to support animation workflows in Unity.

Requirements:

• A leader who "gets" the game's vision and goals, and can lead design, not just follow orders.
• Social, makes friends easily. It's a remote job but most of us are around Warsaw and we have occasional fun team meet-ups.
• Disciplined artist who finishes what you start
• Excited by the challenge of inventing a new category of video game
• Portfolio showcasing strong 3D animation work targeted at Unity mobile games, not just movies / video work.
• Minimum 3 years of experience animating for mobile games, ideally with proven projects in Unity.
• Solid understanding of mobile animation constraints and optimization techniques in Unity.
• Demonstrated ability to implement animations inside Unity, including using the Animator component and Animator Controllers.
• Proficiency with animation software such as Maya, 3ds Max, or Blender.
• Good grasp of timing, weight, and character acting tailored to mobile game contexts.

Bonus Skills:

• Experience in rigging and skinning characters/models.
• Experience with mobile-friendly animation tools and plugins.
• Knowledge of motion capture cleanup and retargeting for Unity mobile projects.
• Contributions to published mobile games and iterative development experience.
• Can make other types of art such as character art, hard surface models
