Let’s be real. We see a lot of great games. Talented teams, beautiful art, solid code. But even the best projects can hit a wall. Sometimes a game has 50 features but no clear hook, or mechanics that felt good on paper but feel clunky in a build (and sometimes clunky on paper). We're looking for someone who can spot those friction points before they become deal-breakers.

We are Untold Tales. We’ve been at this for nearly six years, with over 70 games in our war chest. Our portfolio is shifting so do we. While we still love a unique story, we’re increasingly focused on games with legs. We want more and deep systems, high replayability, and projects that can grow through updates and DLCs. We’re looking for games that stay on players' hard drives for years, not just days.

We don’t want a "Consultant" who’s going to charge us for a 40-page PDF of "high-level observations." We want a practitioner. Someone who has shipped Indie or AA titles and knows exactly why a gameplay loop is sagging. We need someone who can work with developers to cut the bloat and sharpen the fun.

The Deal: This isn't a 9-5 grind. This is a B2B partnership. You probably have other projects or a full-time gig - that’s fine. We just need you to be our additional eye for game design when a new build hits the table. We’ll agree on an hourly rate or a "per-game" fee. No corporate BS, just honest, professional feedback.

Your main storyline includes quests like:

  • The Depth Audit - Play potential signings and tell us: is there enough systemic "meat" here to keep players engaged for months?
  • The Longevity Check - Evaluate if the game’s architecture supports a long-term roadmap or if it’s a one-off experience
  • The Mechanic Polish - Identify the "weird" or "clunky" parts and suggest concrete ways to make them click
  • Strategic Sidekick - Work closely with our Head of Portfolio, our internal studio (Kautki Cave), and our Producers to make sure we’re signing winners

What we expect from our Advisor:

  • A Solid Track Record - You’ve actually shipped games in the Indie/AA space. You know what the "trenches" look like. Sure, AAA is also fine but indies are a different beast that we need to tame
  • System Thinking - You understand meta-progression, economy balancing, and what makes a game "expandable" and attractive
  • No BS Attitude - You speak the language of developers and players, not marketing buzzwords
  • B2B Ready - You have your own setup and can invoice us for your expertise
  • Fluent English - Essential for providing clear, actionable feedback to teams worldwide

We are open to negotiation to ensure you get what you feel you deserve. We reserve the right to answer only selected applications.
