We are looking for a Lead Designer to co-create an entirely new team focused on co-developing titles within the Snail Games USA portfolio. The team will be built from the ground up here in Poland, offering you the unique opportunity to help shape the new studio’s direction.
In this role, you’ll collaborate on an exciting variety of projects, including both well-established IPs and new titles. You’ll be able to influence the studio’s growth and culture from day one while working on creative, dynamic projects with passionate teams from other parts of the world.
Job Duties
- Design Vision Alignment: Act as the primary liaison with co-development partners in the U.S., ensuring the Poland team understands and maintains the project’s design vision.
- Direct Communication: Regularly communicate with U.S.-based design leads to discuss goals, challenges, and feedback, ensuring consistent alignment and addressing any design-related questions.
- Work Assignment and Oversight: Assign tasks to local team members based on skill level and project needs, providing ongoing support and feedback to maintain high standards.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all design work meets the standards and quality expectations set by the U.S. partners and the core team.
- Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior and mid-level designers, helping them improve their skills and contribute effectively to the project.
- Pipeline Optimization: Proactively identify and address any pipeline issues that might slow down or affect the quality of the design work.
- Deliverable Management: Oversee deliverable timelines and manage weekly check-ins with U.S. partners, keeping the Poland team on track and responsive to any feedback.
Requirements
- Experience in Game Design Leadership: 5+ years of experience in game design, with at least 2 years in a leadership role, ideally in a co-development setting.
- English Proficiency: Strong written and verbal English skills to ensure effective communication with U.S. partners.
- Design Vision Execution: Proven ability to absorb and execute on an established design vision while leading a team.
- Task Management Skills: Skilled at assigning tasks, tracking progress, and providing constructive feedback to team members.
- High Standards of Quality: Commitment to maintaining the design standards and ensuring all work aligns with core team expectations.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve issues within the design pipeline.
- Unreal Engine Experience: Proficiency with Unreal Engine, with a preference for experience in UE4 or earlier versions.
Bonus Skills & Knowledge
- Experience with Survival Games: Familiarity with titles like Ark or Atlas and an understanding of their design philosophies.
- Modkit Knowledge: Experience or familiarity with Ark or Atlas Modkits for enhancing and customizing game design elements.
